Compare route outputs before and after calibration

This is the most important calibration decision step.

You are asking one question:

Does this calibration improve the route and day outputs on a route I already understand?

A good workflow

  1. Open a route you know well enough to evaluate.
  2. Review the route with the normal planner behavior.
  3. Preview the calibration on that same route.
  4. Compare the route-level and day-level outputs.

What to compare

Pay attention to changes in:

  • overall route difficulty
  • day balance
  • the way steep terrain is reflected
  • whether the outputs now match the route better or worse

What a good result looks like

A good calibration makes the planner outputs:

  • more specific to you
  • more consistent on routes you understand
  • easier to trust for comparison work

When not to keep it

Do not save or assign a calibration just because it is available.

Skip it if the preview makes the outputs worse, less consistent, or less stable than the default behavior.

Next step

If the preview is better than default, continue to Apply calibration to a route.

If not, improve the FIT dataset and try again later.
